About Us

You may see these two at various Cowboy Festivals across the west, or in association with the Calgary Stampede on a number of different promotional tours to such places as Hong Kong, Ottawa, and San Francisco. Both Gordie and Mike have a thirst for the folklore of Western Canada and the old country music.

Gordie has a vocal range that showcases the ballads of Marty Robins, the yodel styling of Wilf Carter, the crooning of Roy Orbison, the ballads of the man in black and the hip-swaying, melodic tones of Elvis Presley. Mike plays bass and adds harmony - and fun! He has a dry wit that'll keep you wondering "where'd he come from and where's he goin"! Together they are a delightful duo that make the music come alive! They are performers and entertainers, not just singers, and when they are on stage their audience will be entertained!

When the need (or the mood) arises, they are joined by a selection of talented guitar, mandolin, dobro, and steel players. The House get's a'rockin' and the music is magical! Together Gordie and Mike make the music come alive with song and good humour, whether at a country dance, dinner show, cowboy festival, or any other special event.

Gordie West

Gordie was raised on a ranch near Acme, Alberta and began playing the local dance halls in his early teens. He spent his early years touring Alberta as a lead vocal for a country band and in 1976 struck out for England as the "Calgary Cowboy". Gordie has promoted the Calgary Stampede, Alberta and Canada throughout the British Isles, Europe, Scandinavia, the Orient and much of North America. He has released five albums in Britain covering a varied repertory of country, rock, easy listening, ballads and sing-a-long music. In the early 1990's Gordie returned to his home in Calgary and in 2003 moved to his ranch north of Kamloops BC where he lives with his wife, Shirley.

Mike Dygert

Mike Dygert also hales from Alberta ranch stock; his father grew up on ranches in southern Alberta and Mike was able to spend summers on relatives’ farms and ranches. Mike lives in Cold Lake, Alberta - a three hour drive northeast of Edmonton.
He too has a thirst for the stories of the old west, a dry wit that will have you wondering "where'd he come from?" and "How the heck did he get there?".
When he's not away doing what he loves ( playing bass for Gord or Hugh or Richard … ), riding his motorcycle (with a Veterans Group), Mike helps his 90+ year old parents enjoy their life.
